New Virtus Project (Your thoughts required!)

Sun Jun 21, 2009, 3:02 PM
I suddenly found inspiration for a new Virtus project. Yes, it will be a comic. Yes, it will feature the Swede-ster and a monologue. (Thank you for the astounding nickname, :iconvalemeister: !)

But anyway, it will be my first Virtus project completed fully on my own. No extra artists, just me.

:iconvirtusplz:

But in order to do this comic project, I need to have questions about Virtus, related to himself, his mythos and world. It can be already asked questions, it can be completely new questions. The importance is, I want to be able to write them down.

Examples:

What is V's sexual preference?
Why the red/black/white?
Why the secret identity?
What is it that motivates V?
What world does V live in?
What city does he live in?

The only catch is that I want you to put those questions down here, and expect that you will have to wait for the answer in comic form, but the deadline for new questions is August 1st 2009 . There's no real limit to the ammount of questions you want to ask, and it can be silly questions or perhaps even philosophical questions, plus you can come back from time to time with new ones.

There are some spoilerish questions you might have that I will not answer in this DA Exclusive, but I will make sure to inform you all that those answers are classified until further notice, so you won't be sitting on the edge in waiting for them.

If I approve or disapprove of a question for the project, you will get either one of the following replies.

1) Approved. That's a question that definately will get answered in the comic project.
2) Disapproved. A rude question will not be answered.
3) No comment. This is the answer for questions that touch too much on the future of Virtus, and would spoil too much of my plans.

I will throw in short personal thoughts on the questions also, so you'll know that I actually have read every reply.

Once I have all the questions, I will write a script based on them, and then begin work on the comic. My hopes is that it will be done around Spring 2010, so that I can test how far I can go. The final product will then be put up, page by page, here on DA.

So get cracking on some questions, and remember, you can always come back to ask something new! Once again, the deadline is August 1st!

Cool! New comic that answers all of our questions!

Ok. How did Virtus become? How did he discover his powers, his limits, his full abilities. Whats with the costume, it seems quite dark and abit anti-hero. Does virtus want to be a hero? What of his family, do they know about his powers? Does anyone? What does virtus do when he isnt virtus? Who are his villains, his main rival? How does the world react to virtus? Do they know he exists? Is he like a local myth, or do the news cover him? Support him? Fear him? 20-30 years from now, where will virtus be? Will his powers affect his lifespan?

Sorry for the question bomb man. You asked for it. :P

New OC Tournament! I brought you AFL 1-3, now take part in 1DF - One Dollar Fighter!
:iconkjmarch:
I must say that I am a pretty big fan of this idea! Best of luck with the project, it's mighty ambitious but I'm sure you can do it! So, since you have asked for them, here are some questions that I feel are often left out of original superhero characters:

1. If one of Virtus's close friends or family members were to die, how would he react? Would he claim vengeance, or accept that these sorts of thing happen in life and continue on with his super-heroics.

2. What is Virtus's personal philosophy? For example does he see every human life as valuable, or does he feel a sense a detachment form the world as a result of a more "existentialist" view on the wold. Are people seen as physical rather than spiritual?

3. Is he a religious man?

If the world were clear, art would not exist.
:iconbug-off:
Why did he pick the name 'Virtus'

How did he get his costume?

--
One man alone can be pretty dumb sometimes, but for real bona fide stupidity, there ain't nothin' can beat teamwork.
:iconsirdragon12:
1. who he sacrifice his life for a person he doesnt know?

2. how did he make a living before he became a big time superhero?

3. does he have that one special someone? who is it?

--
i nave friends in high places so bring it!:yakuza::mib:
:iconlovgreno:

My only consistent quality is my inconsistency.
:iconzephrania:
Serious
1. What's Virtus' speed limit (aprox.)?
2. What is Virtus' biggest weakness?
3. Where is Virtus intelligence-wise?
4. Why black and red?
5. Is there something/someone that can actually make Virtus hate it/them? Like, HATE it/them.
6. On the other end of the scale, what turns his knees into jam?
7. What's Virtus afraid of?
8. Childhood?
9. Has he ever used his power for wrong purposes?
10. What is Virtus relation to other superheroes?
11. ...Does there even EXIST other swedish superheroes?
12. Not to mention swedish supervillains?
13. Or simply scandinavian supervillains? Apart from Dansk Folkeparti?
14. Does every country have a sort of national superhero?
15. Has Virtus ever been stopped for speeding?
16. Now what's Virtus' REAL weakness?
17. Virtus Theme?
18. Virtus' relation to the police?
19. World rescue organisation and the like?
20. Is is politically active?
21. Hobbies?
22. Dreams for the future?
23. Greatest personal achievement so far?
24. Rivals?
25. Idols?

I'll post more if anything hits me.

In this time are we loving
Or do we sit here wondering
Why this world isn’t turning round
It’s now or never
:iconmarkdobson:
For me and my Supers, the world came first. Some came from playing City of Heroes, or, various P&;P rpgs and found themselves adapted into my universe, but for the most part I created a history for my world and wove the heroes and villains into it.

So, the questions I usually ask myself are about the origins of the heroes:
Are they natural mutations?
Are they altered beings?
Did their powers manifest as they grew or were they always so?
What is the public opinion/awareness of Super-powered beings?
Is their a history of powered beings or are they new?
Is there super-hero literature in this world, i.e. do they have Batman, Superman and Spider-man to draw inspiration from (or their relative equivalents)?
How does the government react to control these forces?
How do the costumes work: Are they adapted from existing clothes? Are they custom made?

On a personal note:
Why a hero at all?
What is his motivation?
What type of hero does he want to be?
Does he even see a social life as viable?
Maybe he works hard to try and keep a normal life going outside of his heroic activities, so, what does that cost him?
If he maintains an intimate relationship with someone, does he confide in them or does he keep it hidden?
When he is being a hero, how far will he go to do what he thinks is right?
Will he sacrifice himself, or, would he sacrifice someone else for the greater good?
Does he do "the right thing" regardless of what the consequences might be down the line?

This is probably my favourite question to myself when creating a character. It forces you to press deeper into the psyche of the char and really round out their persona:

What would it take for He/She to become the Villain?

Thats the way I work anyhow, not that I've actually got anything finished up and ready, but I do have about 2000 years of history and future mapped out on various scraps of paper.

As 20 cannibals have hold of you, they need their protein just like you do
:iconjacobdobson:
Alright uhhh... I got it! :D

1)What is his attitude toward other superheroes in general?
2)If Virtus had an enemy that he REALLY hated and accidentally killed him/her, would he regret it?
3)Has Virtus ever tried to be rid of his powers?

That's all I can think of... Virtus rocks! :)

How did Virtus become?
- Approved. It was all a freak accident. Seb Sanders was struck down as a potential eye witness to an illegal exchange of scientific information, and thrown into a particle accelerator by the culprit (Dr. Larsen) as it would leave absolutely nothing for the paramedics to find after the murder. But the police managed to track Larsen down anyway, due to having arrested a squealer. Larsen was taken away, and the machine overheated, exploding the entire building and everything in it. There were no casualties, but Seb had somehow survived... With no memory of what had happened, as he was unconscious throughout the whole ordeal.

How did he discover his powers, his limits, his full abilities?
- Approved. There were several instances were he should have seen that something was different. How he managed to run around naked without anyone noticing to get home and fall asleep instantly. The day after, when he got sick and tired of hearing the sadistic crap out of a bully named Anton and punched a tooth out of his mouth. But all that didn't click until he had a mood swing while reading a book about the Holocaust, and he threw the book into a wall, creating cracks. It wasn't until then that everything else clicked into place. Note: As you can see, he doesn't REMEMBER how he got his powers, but he THINKS it's a mutant thing.

Whats with the costume, it seems quite dark and abit anti-hero?
- Approved. Seb had an affinity for the color scheme, and therefore ran with it. Behind the scenes, however, he decided upon black as the main colour because there already was a Scarlet Speedster running around. And there are two reasons for the slacks in the pants. 1) Totally hot superheroines and villainesses. 2) He has a bit of a butt complex.

Does Virtus want to be a hero?
- Approved. Yes. At first, it was merely a thrillride that ended badly with a bullet wound and emotional scars, but when he recieved a hug from the little girl he saved during a time when he was considering giving up before things really got dangerous, he simply realized that doing good makes you feel good on the inside, and that made it worth it to him. So he keeps on going, just for that fuzzy feeling in his stomach.

What of his family, do they know about his powers?
- Approved. Only his mom knows, after he told her. He has three younger bros too, but he's too afraid they might tell everyone that their brother's a superhero. And he doesn't like his dad enough to let him know.

Does anyone?
- Approved. No, so far his mum is the only one who knows.

What does Virtus do when he isnt Virtus?
- Approved. As an 18-year old with almost no social life, he spends his time drawing and chatting with his friends on the web.

Who are his villains, his main rival?
- Approved. He's still a very rookie superhero, so he doesn't have any major villains yet. His rival would be Anton though, who acts like an alpha male marking his territory, and it's a running gag that Seb doesn't put up with crap and goes in-between whenever he's being a jerk.

How does the world react to Virtus?
- Approved. With several hundreds of superheroes running around, they see it as nothing spectacular if another one pops up. His home town of Sala treats him quite good, as he is THEIR first superhero.

Do they know he exists?
- Approved. Yes.

Is he like a local myth, or do the news cover him?
-Approved. Superheroes are nothing out of the ordinary in V's world, so he has no front page spots yet.

Support him?
-Approved. He has a small bunch of followers. Small, since he isn't that famous yet. Sara, whose life he saved, adores him though, as does her mother.

Fear him?
-Approved. There are some people that dislikes him for different reasons, but they are a minority vote.

20-30 years from now, where will Virtus be?
Will his powers affect his lifespan?
- Slightly disapproved. I can tell you this much. He's not going to be 18 forever. But no, he will not age any faster than a normal human.

Think nothing of it, Leigh. Keep bombing me whenever you want. ^^

I protest mot FRA-lagen, så skall jag avsluta den här signaturen med terror...
:iconspeedslide:
1. :iconvirtusplz: "If you dare to hurt my friends, I will hurt you back..." V usually resolves that excessive violence never solves anything. But if someone actually killed anyone of those close to him, he would most definately beat them at least halfway to death in rage before saying that he'd rather see them rot in jail with a lifetime sentence.

2) A bit of both. V believes in two major ideals "Do what thou will, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else" and that "Whatever you give, you will recieve three times over." as quoted from several Wiccan books. In short words, he believes that everyone deserves to be an individual, without impeding on anyone else.

3) V isn't devoted to religion as a major part of his life. He does sometimes pray in a joking manner, but when he's faced with something he has no power over, he may give a silent pray for it to be resolved. He tends to believe that there's more between heaven and earth than science and nature, but he associates that the whole God business is a bit more boring than the Pagan religions.
